Allison D.H. Soares is a Partner at Vanst Law LLP, where she helps individuals and businesses with avoidance or resolution of tax problems. For 15 years, she has represented clients before the Internal Revenue Services (IRS), Franchise Tax Board (FTB), Employment Development Department (EDD), and the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA).
Ms. Soares became a lawyer because she loves helping people. She enjoys fixing problems and handling issues, including audits, collections, appeals, international disclosures, and grumpy people. Often times, clients either tried solving the issue themselves or ignored it completely. She assists clients with critical issues, and seeks to understand the issues and get to a quick resolution.
No one likes tax law. No one. Professionals such as Ms. Soares get things done properly and ensures time and money is save. She has the unique ability to take control of overwhelming experiences with ease.
In addition to her JD and Master of Laws in Taxation, Ms. Soares has an MBA in accounting. Ms. Soares enjoys advising clients and providing practical advice to her students as an adjunct professor at San Diego State University.
Allison is a consistent contributor on tax related content for Bloomberg Tax and aBa american Bar association, as well as other publications. From 2021 to 2024, she was nominated as a super Lawyer, as well as a Martindale Hubbell aV Preeminent: Highest Excellence in Legal ability and Ethical Practice.
Active in public service, she was appointed by Mayor Todd Gloria in 2021 to join the City of San Diego’s Balboa Park Committee. Assuming the role of Chair in 2023, she leads the committee, responsible for offering advisory insights to the Mayor, City Council, and City Manager on matters concerning the acquisition, development, maintenance, and operation of the city’s cherished Crown Jewel.
Originally from Wisconsin, she lives in the South Park community of San Diego with her husband and two sons.
